For the GS-04:
You must have six months of general experience and six months of specialized experience equivalent to at least a GS-03 in the Federal service. General experience is defined as:
Observed technical work, such as construction inspector or surveyor work. Performed general office duties, such as filing and maintaining simple records. Performed simple arithmetic computations. Specialized experience is defined as one or more of the following:
Functioned as rod person on land surveys; measured slope and horizontal distance by using a variety of surveying instruments. OR Successful completion of 2 years of post-secondary education that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of surveying, engineering, industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, forestry, geography, navigation, cartography, physical science, or mathematics. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
